What varied joys desire takes in its labor; if there were no death, what would be the pleasure of living?
لوگ کہتے ہیں وقت بدلتا ہے
میں کہتا ہوں وقت بدلتا نہیں لوگ بدلتے ہیں
People say times change; I say times don't change — people change.
تیرے ہونٹوں کے پھولوں کی چاہت میں ہم
دار کی خشک ٹہنی پہ وارے گئے

تو رہ نورد شوق ہے منزل نہ کر قبول
لیلیٰ بھی ہم نشیں ہو تو محمل نہ کر قبول

اب تو گھبرا کے یہ کہتے ہیں کہ مر جائیں گے
